Giant silk moth eggs

 

Did you know a cecropia moth lays about unfertilized eggs? Believe it or not, that's a common trait among giant silk moths. You see even though silk moths never met there partner for life, the female silk moth lays unfertilized eggs when she is adult. They typically lay about 300 to 400 eggs depending on the species. Here we have a picture of Astra, our cecropia moth laying a clutch of eggs.
